Food Stamp Tip

Food Stamp Tip

Two wonderful people need a ride towards the bay area California!
Can offer some gas money and have an abundance of EBT for food on the way, able to drive stick shift and licensed!, and tons of positive energy.

Needed tomorrow, maybe Friday! Sooner the better. Please call xxx-xxx-xxxx, we have little to no Internet access

Thanks
Sheila and Roman

Forgive me, people, for copying your post. I changed the names…

What’s EBT? Well… it’s food stamps. Here’s a little history lesson: years ago, food stamps came in the form of a check. It looked like an income tax refund check. You’d take your check to the Ace Check Cashing or other similar establishments, and they would cash it. You’d get bills similar to real money like fives, tens and twenties. If you ever spent a larger bill and needed change, the clerk would be expected to give your change in food stamps. It was kind of elaborate. Sometimes, you would get your change in cash because they didn't have the proper food stamps available. That’d be a score. Of course, you heard stories of how some people sold their food stamps as soon as they got them. They would! They would sell a hundred dollars worth for like sixty bucks! Tempting? Right!

Nowadays, the government issues you a debit card called your EBT card. (Electronic Benefit Transfer) They load your benefits onto it, including your food stamps and whatever cash welfare you receive. So, that’s the food stamp system of receiving them.

So… in writing this blog, I’ve flip-flopped between positive and bitter. When it comes to writing about food stamps, we have to realize there are such extremes out there! They range from drug dealers… to pregnant girlfriends who say they don’t know who the daddy is… all the way to the family that is just now accepting that for the first time in their lives they qualify for food stamps.

Well, when coming upon a advertisement like this, I get a little perturbed. It appears that this couple is offering to purchase what is basically going to end up as junk food at gas stations for exorbitant prices in exchange for a road trip. Is it an important road trip or something urgent? It is a curiosity.

Well, now the government has teamed up with Crime Stoppers to form a new incentive program to bust wrongdoers in the act. So, if you know anyone who is lying to get food stamp benefits or disability (SSI), watch out! Because now they really have eyes everywhere. In this new program, someone contacts Crime Stoppers to blow the whistle and they can stay anonymous. If the person they turn in gets caught, then the person turning them in gets up to $5,000.00 in cash reward money. This is for each person they turn in. Ridiculous! Right? But, the person/s receiving government assistance that don’t actually need it are stealing way more than that per year! So, it’s a win-win-lose. Maybe if the culprit is busted in wrongdoing, they’d turn their life around and do something better. Then it’d be a win-win-win. Also, when the government says, “anonymous” they mean it. They just give you an ID number to use instead of a name and pay in cash. Anyone can pick up the cash as long as they have the ID number with them.

So now it is on. No more screwing over the government. No more using good, honest, hardworking taxpayers moneys to pay for frivolous things… oh wait… there‘s always the federal budget!

We are never to ignore the cries of the poor, or else our cries will one day be ignored.

So, where do you stand? The cry of the poor is never to be ignored, and so I’m glad we have these benefits. But, what I’m dying to know… is what people think about these? Have you ever received them? Tell it without shame. Even if you did lie to get them, that was the past. Make this interesting. And no judging. We know when we do wrong or what we did in the past was wrong. That’s what makes it fun to grow up! Looking back and just shaking our head. Lol. I once heard this from a stripper, “Can you believe he tipped me with a Food Coupon?” (In her most snobbiest voice!!!) LOL

7 Dirty Restaurant Secrets

7. Topping Pitchers of Beer with Seltzer Water

Don't think the fiddling is restricted to top-shelf liquors, either. "In sports bars that sell pitchers of beers, the thing to do is to top the pitchers off with seltzer after the table has ordered like the third one," a source says. "The drunker the guys, the more seltzer they get."

6. Refilling Pricey Bottled Waters with Tap

It turns out not all water bottles are created equal. You might already suspect that some restaurants refill water bottles with tap water, but some places turn it into an art form. "Where I worked we served Voss water because it has the easiest screw top to re-seal," a waitress says. "You can't do that with the brands that have a bottle cap."

5. Recycling Baskets of Chips

One diner at a landmark cafe in Bethlehem, Pa., reported digging in to some bagel chips and finding they contained old pineapple rinds.

"Someone else got served the chips, didn't eat them all, threw their rinds from some other dish into the basket, the waiter picked it up without looking and threw more chips on top and re-served it to us," the customer claimed on an online ratings Web site. "Yeech!"

Management didn't seem to care and the patron says "they were trying to economize their chip ration, and it was probably standard practice to re-use uneaten chips."

4. Serving Rotten Meat

A steakhouse employee in New York says that sometimes not all the meat is as fresh as it should be. "It's an old trick to keep the steak that's past its prime and wait until somebody orders it well done or medium-well," the insider says. "The more you cook the meat, the more you disguise its flavor. When I'm eating out I never order anything higher than medium rare, because I know how the kitchen gets rid of bad meat."

3. Using Fake Creamer

A former waitress at an upscale restaurant in Philadelphia reports that one of the daily duties of staff was to mix a large pot of non-dairy, powdered creamer. When coffee or tea was ordered, the small milk jugs were to be filled halfway with fake creamer, and then topped off with the more expensive real milk.

2. Serving Caffeinated Coffee as Decaffeinated

If your body has a problem with caffeine, it might be safer to make your own coffee at home. The same Philadelphia source also reports coming back to the kitchen with a cup of regular coffee when an elderly customer had requested decaf. "The head waiter took the cup from my hand, handed it right back to me and said, 'There -- now it's decaf,'" she says.

1. Souping Up Big Ticket Items

The most shocking story came from an internationally well-known West Coast restaurant -- trust us, you've heard of this place. Part of the shtick of this very fine-dining establishment is the presentation of a truffle at the table, so that customers have the opportunity to order some (super expensive) shavings to be added to their food. But while white truffles are more expensive than black truffles, their aroma is more subtle, meaning that they make less of an impression when presented during the sales pitch. "What the staff would do is add black truffle oil, which is more pungent, to the white truffle, to give it more 'pop,'" the insider says. "It's an absolute no-no to do, especially at those prices. But who's going to know?"

Stay away from the restaurants and find yourself a meal plan compliments on us.

What is acrylamide?

What is acrylamide?

Acrylamide is a chemical compound that occurs as a solid crystal or in liquid solution. Its primary use is to make polyacrylamide and acrylamide copolymers. Trace amounts of the original (unreacted) acrylamide generally remain in these products. Polyacrylamide and acrylamide copolymers are used in many industrial processes, including production of paper, dyes, and plastics, and the treatment of drinking water, sewage and waste. They are also present in consumer products such as caulking, food packaging and some adhesives.

What are the known health effects of acrylamide?

Historically, exposure to high levels of acrylamide in the workplace has been shown to cause neurological damage.

Does acrylamide increase the risk of cancer?

Acrylamide has not been shown to cause cancer in humans. However, the relationship between acrylamide and cancer has not been studied extensively in humans. Because it has been shown to cause cancer in laboratory rats when given in the animals' drinking water, both the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) in Lyon, France, consider acrylamide to be a probable human carcinogen. The National Toxicology Program's Ninth Report on Carcinogens states that acrylamide can be "reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen."

Is there acrylamide in food?

Recent studies by research groups in Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Britain and the United States have found acrylamide in certain foods. It has been determined that heating some foods to a temperature of 120 C (248 F) can produce acrylamide. Potato chips and french fries have been found to contain relatively high levels of acrylamide compared to other foods, with lower levels also present in bread and cereals. A joint World Health Organization and Food and Agriculture Organization (WHO/FAO) consultation in June 2002 concluded that the levels of acrylamide in foods pose a major concern and called for more research to determine what the risk is and what should be done.

How does cooking produce acrylamide?

In September 2002, researchers discovered that the amino acid asparagine, which is present in many vegetables, with higher amounts in some varieties of potatoes, can form acrylamide when heated to high temperatures in the presence of certain sugars. High-heat cooking methods, such as frying, baking or broiling, are most likely to result in acrylamide formation. Boiling and microwaving appear less likely to form acrylamide. Longer cooking times increase the amount of acrylamide produced when the temperature is high enough.

Are there other ways humans are exposed to acrylamide?

There are other ways humans are exposed to acrylamide, but exposure through food is one of the largest sources. Cigarette smoke may be a major source for some people. Exposure to acrylamide from other sources is likely to be significantly less than that from food or smoking, although scientists do not yet have a complete understanding of all the sources. There are some industrial and agricultural uses of acrylamide and polyacrylamide. However, regulations are in place to limit exposure in those settings.

Top 7 Habits for a Healthy and Financially Successful 2012

What are your New Year’s resolutions? Are you looking to get healthier? Get more exercise? Get healthier? Feel better and have more energy? Join the SevenDayFitness Fan Page! Here’s a list of 7 healthy habits you can adopt this year for a happier, healthier, and potentially longer life.

1. Reduce stress. Stress affects our health in a very negative way. It affects our immune system. It affects our ability to sleep and to digest our food properly. If you’re looking for one thing you can do better for yourself and your health this year, it would be to find methods of reducing stress.

2. Drink more water. Not just because water is good for you but because when you drink more water you stop drinking soda or other sugary drinks. Diet soda isn’t much better because it’s full of artificial sweeteners and chemicals

3. Walk/home workouts. Adding exercise to your day adds years to your life. You don’t have to run a marathon or become iron man triathletes, walking for 30 minutes a day is an excellent start. Plus, you’ll just feel better.

4. Get your vitamins. A well balanced diet is excellent; however a multi vitamin is an excellent tool for a little extra insurance. Plus, it’s an easy thing to add to your daily routine.

5. Eat more fruits and veggies. It goes without saying that eating your fruits and veggies is good for your health. Add one extra serving of fruits and veggies to your day and begin living a healthier life.

6. Eat less sugar. Sugar causes a rapid rise in blood sugar and a general feeling of well being. It also causes a rapid drop in blood sugar and a feeling of no energy. Then you eat more sugar and the cycle repeats itself. This roller coaster of sugar highs and lows wreaks havoc on your body. The solution, eat less sugar and if you do choose to have a sugary snack, eat it with a protein so your body’s metabolism remains more stable.

7. Smile. Smiling reduces stress and puts you in a positive frame of mind. It’s scientifically proven that stress has a direct effect on how healthy a person is. Smile, you’ll be glad you did.
