Having a Gym Membership Makes You Lazy?

I used to belong to a gym for years until I became an
Independent Virtual Fitness Trainer. On average, I went to the gym 3 to 4 times
a week. Unlike now where I do Home workout at home 5 to 6 days a week. It makes
me wonder if having a gym may actually work against some people.
Join the New Year
Many people join a gym hoping to finally get fit and lose weight. Most new
members register at the turn of the new year, but I once told a personal trainer
at my old gym that many new records stopped coming around March or April.
Too easy Delay
It's easy to become dependent in the gym. Knowing that you are a member can
lead to procrastination, because every day you do not feel like exercising, it
is very easy to put off going to the gym for another day. Excuses like you do
not feel like driving or you can go at any time can slow the progression.
No motivation to go
Most of the time, go to the gym can be difficult. After a long day at work, at
times, the last thing I want to do is time to go to the gym. That is a big
reason why only came out three times a week instead of 5 or 6 of the way I do
now. I was not motivated enough to go before work and was often too tired after
work.
I workout at home now and use programs like the RSDP to stay on track. Many
people prefer home gyms. They do not have to be fancy either. Often, only basic
equipment like a weight bench and some can do the job.
You may disagree and say that home gyms can make people just as lazy. How often
people buy the latest exercise machine on TV only to end up selling on
Craigslist or Ebay, one year later it never gets used? I think it comes down to
a matter of what you will carry the majority.
For some people it's going to a gym and for others the convenience of working
at home. What do you prefer?
